Shirt, cotton, khaki:
New tan cotton shirt with convertible collar adopted in November 1941. It replaced the 1938-pattern which was to be worn with a tie. The new convertible design enabled the collar to be worn with garrison with a tie, or opened in the field.

(Stock No 55-S-1942/ 55-S-1958-7):
Tan cotton shirt with the gas-proof features such as sleeve gussets and a buttoned gas flap on the chest. There were introduced in 1942 and warranted the "Special" designation.
Shirt, flannel, OD, coat style
(stock No 55-S-5487-1/ 55-S-5517-7):
Olive drap flannel shirt, adopted in 1934 and modified in 1937: seven buttons down in the front, buttonholes cut on the placket, two patch pockets with buttoned flap. The contractor's label is sewn on the rear right-hand tail. The shirt was replaced in November 1941 by a similar garment with convertible collar.

(stock No 55-S-5652-2/ 55-S-5668-7)
Convertible collared flannel with gas-proof features such as sleeve gussets and a buttoned gas flap on the chest. Two plastic buttons are sewn at the back under the collar for the attachment of the woolen antigas hood.
